If you choose to enroll in our online Drone Ground School course you are able to study at your own pace. Accessing the course material is simple, either on your smartphone, tablet, or desktop. All you require is an internet connection. No previous experience is required to enroll in the course.
What’s Required?
The process of becoming a licensed drone pilot
You will complete 7 modules and write one examination. Once you have passed your final examination, your practical training will commence. When your flight instructor is satisfied that you are skilled and have the knowledge to fly a drone, you will undergo a flight test. The final examination is conducted at our test centre in Emerald Hill, Harare, whilst the practical flight training and flight test are conducted at our test centre at Blue Ridge Farm along Mutoko Road.
Drone course minimum requirements
- You must be 18 years of age.
- You must have a Class 3 Medical Certificate from an aviation doctor, which must be obtained before you start your practical test. We can assist with arrangements for your medical.
- All examinations require pass mark of above 75%.
- You require at least a level 4 English Language proficiency. If you do not have proof of having a level 4 English document, we have an designated English Proficiency Examiner onsite and can arrange for you to be tested.
About The Course
ARE YOU A HOLDER OF A PPL, CPL OR ATPL?
If you are a holder of a valid Private Pilot Licence (PPL), Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) or Air Transportation Pilot Licence (ATPL), you will only need to enrol in and complete the practical training , complete a flight test and complete the following subjects:
- Air Law SI 271
- Principles of Flight
- Construction and Technical
- Navigation and Flight Planning
HOW IS THE COURSE STRUCTURED?
Once you have made your payment:
- you receive access to the online course material consisting of 7 subjects and mock examinations.
- you will work through the material and mock examinations at your own pace.
- when ready to write examinations, you need to schedule 1-2 days of ground school with an instructor for revision purposes.
- once you pass your examinations you will need approximately 3 – 4 days to complete the practical fight lessons and the flight test which is conducted by a CAAZ approved Designated Flight Examiner.
